Public Seminars

Through organizing public seminars on health, WCSA expects to increasing the awareness of health knowledge and improving the quality of life in Winnipeg Chinese community.

Tai Chi Club

Tai Chi exercise in every Sunday morning is the most attractive activity in WCSA. It started in early spring of 2018. Tai Chi not only is a way to exercise, but also provides opportunities for friendship.

Ping Pong Club

The ping pong club with the generous sponsorship of Mr. Xueyong Zhang and his immigration company, and the cooperation of Huatian Table Tennis Club, is officially started every Saturday.

Fitness Class

Every fitness class on Saturday and Thursday, through integrating music and dance, helps members to express their emotions and energy to achieve the their goal of happy fitness and healthy exercise.

Our Work


WCSA initiated and developed the “Learning Your Health Series” in 2016. In the period of four years (2017 – 2020), WCSA successfully organized 11 public seminars addressing a wide range of interesting health topics (mostly delivered by English, and translated into Mandarin) with over 1400 attendees:

WCSA knows that the best way to keep people’s good health is to make regular exercise. Especially for older adults, regular exercise can help them stay independent, happier and prevent many health problems that come with age. So WCSA organized many clubs and classes in order for the members to take part in regular physical exercise in groups and regular getting-together activities. These clubs and classes were highly appreciated by the members, and very well received by the public.

Adaptive Changes During the Pandemic

  1. From March 12, the date when the first case was diagnosed, the association has stopped all group activities, including Tai Chi, fitness, ballroom dance, GO, Ping Pang, Spring Festival Gala, the 150th anniversary celebration of Manitoba, and so on.
  2. Changed the sketch class to online teaching.
  3. Changed the vocal class to online teaching.
  4. Organize vocal class students to send blessings to the people of Wuhan.
  5. Participated in various donation campaigns carried out by the community for the epidemic.
  6. Distributed more than 10,000 masks donated by a health group member to the association for free to our members and other communities.
  7. Started a garden group, covering vegetable and flower growing.
  8. Started a cooking club.
  9. The WeChat public account of the association has been opened.
  10. Conducted a summer online colored drawing course.
  11. Conducted a summer online singing skills class.
  12. Published news about the epidemic on WCSA webpage and 3 WCSA WeChat groups in due course.
